Legendary Philly music series Shaking Through returns for its tenth season this Friday with a new episode featuring Hong Kong’s David Boring. For over a decade, Weathervane has produced the series, which follows the creation of a song by a variety of groups over 24 hours at Fishtown’s Miner Street Recordings. Previous bands featured on Shaking Through include Hop Along, Mr. Twin Sister, Waxahatchee, and more.
Weathervane creator Brian McTear found this episode’s focus, the “No-Wave” band David Boring while watching the late Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. The episode featured an interview with the band in which they discussed their musical philosophy, idealism, and what their future looks like in Hong Kong.
David Boring’s Shaking Through focuses on the creation of their new single “Machine #3”, interwoven with interviews from the band about their life in Hong Kong, their future, and the message they hope to convey through their music.
